Monday Morning Meme #4

Karen from WriteFromKaren has started a new meme, appropriately titled the 'Monday Morning Meme'. It's a lot of fun - won't you join in? :)

January 21st Questions:

  1. What famous person would you most like to have dinner with (living or dead) and what would you ask him/her?

Hmm, I really have no idea. Let me think for a minute here - I'll get back to you on that one.

  2. What do you enjoy blogging about the most?

I would definitely have to say the sense of community and the awesome people I've met around the blogosphere.

  3. What is your favorite kind of candy?

My absolute favorite, 'addicted-to', 'can't do without' when they're available candy? These:
The good thing is that they're only available for a month or two when Easter candy is out in stores. However, the bad thing is that since you can only get them for that short period of time, I tend to eat way, way too many of them...

  4. Which sibling or relative are you closest to? What makes you close? Similiar interests? Or are you completely opposite?

I guess I would have to say my younger brother. We've always been pretty close, from the time that he would hang around me and my friends when he was a little kid. We don't have much in common anymore (we live vicariously through each other - he's the single, 'urban' professional who travels often, and I'm the 'settled down with kids' one) and we don't see each other as often as we would like, but we are still pretty close when we're able to be. Knowing that we're the only ones who 'get' our parents and having the same memories from growing up - it's one big reason why I wanted Abby to have siblings.

Monday Morning Meme #3

Karen from WriteFromKaren has started a new meme, appropriately titled the 'Monday Morning Meme'.

So it's not quite morning anymore.... I'm running a bit behind since I've been chasing 3 wound-up kids around all day... :)

January 21st Questions:

1. What is your favorite weekend ritual?

Well, I don't know that we have any real 'rituals' since our weekends are always different, depending on plans, Ron's work hours, etc. We used to have cinnamon rolls for breakfast every Saturday morning, but now that Ron works on Saturdays we don't do that often anymore. I think probably right now it would have to be going out with Kristi on Friday nights after our kids are all in bed and getting in some 'mommy-only' shopping time, along with dessert.

2. Do you consider yourself a hopeless romantic or romantically hopeless? Why?

Maybe somewhere in between? I used to be more of a romantic, but lately am too focused on other things, unfortunately. I am a sucker for a good romantic movie or book though, and I love being surprised with romantic gestures - not that it happens very often, but it's wonderful when it does.

3. Do you consider yourself a high-maintenance, or a low-maintenance person? Why?

Wow, this is a hard one. If you asked Ron, he would say high-maintenance, I'm sure. I don't think I'm as bad as he thinks I am though.

4. If you could only eat two different types of food - one healthy, one not-so healthy - for the rest of your life, what would they be?

Pizza and salad. Specifically, pepperoni pizza with extra sauce and salad with just the right amount of ranch dressing, grated cheese and carrots, croutons, and a touch of onions to add extra taste (but no tomatoes or cucumbers). Yum.....

Monday Morning Meme #2

Monday Morning Meme at writefromkaren.comKaren from WriteFromKaren has started a new meme, appropriately titled the 'Monday Morning Meme'. :)

I'm home today with a little one who threw up in the middle of the night in her bed, so am running a bit late with this. So far this morning I have watched a lot of Dora, Backyardigans, SuperWhy, and Little People... Thinking about anything other than Dora, Boots, Pablo, Tyrone, Whyatt, Maggie, Sarah Lynn or Eddie sounds great to me right about now. So here we go for this week...

January 14th Questions:

1. If you could hypnotize someone for one day, who would it be and what would you have him or her do?

I think I would have to say that I would hypnotize Ron for a day. It would have to be on a weekend so we were both home, and I would have him do - everything. All the housework that day, taking care of the kids, and a bit of pampering for yours truly. All of those are things he does somewhat regularly or on occasion anyway, but it would be nice to have a day 'off' where he took care of it all.

2. Which two singers do you believe would create horrible music together?

This isn't a question that I'm very good at answering. I guess one of the strangest combinations I could think of would be something like Willie Nelson and Gwen Stefani. That would definitely be some odd music...

3. If you woke up and saw your name on the front page of your local paper, what would you want the caption to say?

"Local woman wins millions in lottery!" What can I say - our finances are frustrating me greatly at the moment...

4. Of all the books that you have read in the past year, what was your favorite?

Hmm, of all the books I've read in the past year - all 4 or 5 of them? Definitely Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows. Hands down - an awesome ending to an incredible series of books. As sad as I was to see it end...

Monday Morning Meme #1

Monday Morning Meme at writefromkaren.comKaren from WriteFromKaren has started a new meme, appropriately titled the 'Monday Morning Meme'. :)

Some of the other Monday ones I've tried seem to have vanished or update rarely if at all, so I thought I'd give this one a try since it sounds like fun. I can usually handle answering questions on Monday morning, especially if it doesn't require me to think too much.

So here we go for this week...

January 7th Questions:

1. Name three pet peeves.

Hmm, I do have a lot of pet peeves, but somehow can never think of what any of them are when I'm asked about it. Ok, here's one that does come to mind - I hate when someone cooks or prepares food in the kitchen without cleaning up after themselves. Not that I can think of anyone at all who might normally do this. Nope, not at all, LOL. Just because I'm constantly wiping off my counters from all of the crumbs left there when a certain someone makes sandwiches for himself, or throwing away butter wrappers, empty cans or whatever else, and putting used knives and plates in the sink... Nope, nobody still comes to mind!

Another one of mine is when I have a certain place that I keep something so that I can always find it when I need it. Such as keeping my nail clippers in a certain drawer, or a pen in a specific spot in the kitchen. I absolutely can't stand when I go to grab my nail clippers or my favorite pen and it's not there because someone else has used it and not replaced it. Um, I keep my things where they belong so that I won't lose them - and it drives me nuts when I lose them anyway because somebody else didn't put them away where they belong. I don't mind if my stuff is used - just put it back where you found it! And I live with 2 big culprits of this - Ron and Abby. I've been trying to teach all of the girls about being careful with their things and putting them away so that they can always find them, but that hasn't worked very well yet.

Ok, so a third pet peeve... People who don't RSVP for birthday parties. I can't believe how many people you never hear from and it's so hard to try and figure out how much of everything to get and how much you want to spend when you have no idea who's coming! So please, if you or your child is invited somewhere - take a minute, pick up the phone and RSVP! :)

2. What kind of movie would you rather not see?

I hate horror movies. A good thriller is ok, especially if it's suspenseful and interesting. But not the gory, scare you just for the sake of scaring you kind of movie. Nope, not a fan. And although I do like comedies in general, I absolutely cannot stand the type of 'stupid' humor that's become so popular nowadays. A good romantic comedy is fine, or something that can be funny without bathroom humor, characters who act like idiots or where characters are put into embarrassing situations... I can do without all of that.

3. What is your favorite Walt Disney character? Why?

Um, I'm not really sure that I have a favorite Disney character. I mean I enjoy many of the movies, but none of the characters stand out to me in particular. At one time I might have said Winnie the Pooh, but after using that as the theme in Abby's nursery, I got quite 'Pooh-ed' out. :)

4. Is there a much-loved singer that scares or stings your ears?

Wow, these definitely require a lot of thought for a Monday morning... But here goes. I hate the voices of a few popular singers. Not necessarily their songs, just their voices. People such as Michael Bolton, Rod Stewart, Ray Charles - I guess those who have a gritty or 'gravely' voice. Oh, and I have never understood the appeal of Idol winner Fantasia's singing - I am in awe of everything she's been able to accomplish in her life and she is an incredible performer, but her actual voice has always grated on me. Sorry to any huge fans of these singers who might be reading this!
